Formation

The Zac Brown Band was formed in 2002 and right after their formation they have been on a heavy tour as much as 200 dates a year, The initial Zac Brown Band lineup Consisted of Brown on the acoustic guitar and was backed by a drummer and a bass guitarist. In 2004 he opened a music club with his father in Lake Oconee called “Zacs Place”. Later he sold the restaurant to buy a tour bus and began touring fulltime. Zac brown Band released their second independent album in the year 2005 which was titled “Home Grown”. That same year they got themselves a new bass guitarist John Driskell, he also took place as the baritone vocalist. Hopkins was already pretty known as the leader of the band Brighter Side, met Zac in 1998 at an open mic event hosted by Hopkins.

Commercial success

The Zac brown Band released their debut single “Chicken Fried”, which was included in their 2003 album but was later put into country radio in 2008, the same year in October Atlantic Records acquired the distribution of Chicken Fried, it reached No. 1 on the country charts the same month, making them the first country band to reach No. 1 after Heartland did so in 2006. In July of 2012, Zac Brown band released their new CD “Uncaged” which received a very significant fame. Billboard considered the album to be the best country album of 2012.

Zac Brown Band has won over fifty Grammy, ACM, AMA, CMA & CMT award nominations since 2009. They have won 2 Grammys, 2 ACM’s and 2 AMT’s.
